Whatever happened to...
...Emma West?
I was ambling round the Internong just now, as you do, when it suddenly occurred to me that the trial of Emma West, aka "the tram racist", had been due to start on Wednesday (5 Sep). As it does.

Emma West trial adjourned for third time
The mother of two pleaded not guilty and had been due to face trial at Croydon Crown Court tomorrow (Wednesday).
However, the case has been adjourned for the third time after the Crown Prosecution Service asked for further reports to be compiled.
A new date for the trial has yet to be fixed.

Ah, yes! I spotted that yesterday.
Stretching it out until they can drop it, perhaps?

Yes, I'm beginning to wonder if They are hoping she'll die of old age — or maybe stress — before the case comes to trial.

You think the CPS may conclude she was distressed at the time of the incident?

More likely the CPS are trying to find the case file, despite using both hands and a compass

I wouldn't trust the CPS to find their own arse with the aid of a map and a guide.

I think they're looking for a way out, especially after the "bus racist" video. The bus racist woman was by far the most offensive of the various filmed outbursts. If they punish Emma West and don't punish the bus woman more severely...

Some years back I followed the Judicial progress of a local gang of likeable rogues; 3 postponments was not at all unusual.

It is highly likely that the CPS are sensing an earthquake, i.e they feel they are on shaky ground, especially after the bus lady's heartfelt opinions were aired and filmed.
Of course they may be scratching round to find a suitably acquiescent judge to condemn the woman for daring to speak her mind. The jury is less of a problem because the left tells us that there isn't a jury in the country who would dare find her not guilty of offending people whose whole life is devoted to being offended for gain and profit, but who may not speak English (though they may feel the force of Ms West's words even if they don't know the meaning)

Spot on Edwin. And if the case goes to Court there's also the dilemma of how to appease the righteous (which implies a stiff sentance) while at the same time reconciling sentancing in the 'racially aggravated' area with other fields of criminal justice. The let-off given to the 'brave burglar' Richard Rochford being the pertinent comparison here.
