Providence gave in to temptation
I was climbing the stairs towards the train station platform when my eye lighted on one of those patronizing safety posters. I stopped and turned to read it. It instructed me how dangerous it was to walk, run, crawl or otherwise move around the station in any wise whatsoever, about slip hazards and trip hazards and how drivers had instructions not to allow passengers to board the train at all in case they tripped and fell down the gap, and the all-in-all advisability of just staying in bed.
Having read, marked, learnt and inwardly digested this sobering homily, I turned to continue my ascent — and promptly tripped and fell up the stairs.
